About the Baker

Jojo taught herself to make bread during graduate school, and quickly learned that her passion was not in academia but in artisan baking. After years of teaching friends to bake informally, she began hosting bread making classes from her tiny apartment kitchen. Even though the oven ran 50° cold, the class exploded in popularity, with multiple sessions and a months-long wait list.

She finally quit her academic job to become a professional baker. Thanks to an array of wonderful mentors and colleagues, she gained experience producing all types of pastries, from laminated pastry to artisan sourdough from the French, Italian, and New American traditions. While serving as Head Baker at Forge Baking Company, she continued teaching community baking classes to satisfy her passion for culinary education.

Jojo most enjoys taking the training skills honed in professional kitchens out into the community. Her love of guiding home bakers towards mastery led her to start In House Baking School, where she serves as Founder and Instructor.
